At Altemueller Jewelry, we provide high-quality jewelry repair. We have three full-time jewelers on staff, so all work is done in-store. Common simple repairs include ring resizings, soldering broken chains, repairing or replacing broken prongs, and stone replacements. Prices are based on how much labor time is involved and what type of material is being used. For more information on the price to repair a specific item, we recommend that you bring the piece in to our store to allow a jeweler to inspect it. This will give us a chance to provide you with an estimate before any work is performed.
Another very valuable service that we provide at Altemueller Jewelry is eyeglass repair. We can usually solder broken frames as long as they are not titanium.
Besides repair, we also offer custom settings and designs. Mountings, stones, and bands can all be custom-made to your specifications. Because the options are so limitless, we recommend that you visit our store to view what we have available and can specially design for you. A member of our friendly staff will assist you in selecting exactly what you desire to make your piece special.
At Altemueller Jewelry, we offer custom computerized engraving services on a variety of items. Anything from glassware, picture frames, Bibles, watches, or wine bottles can be engraved to your specifications. A variety of font styles and designs are available, and custom logos can be engraved on many items. Gold leaf and color-filled lettering is also available, so almost anything you imagine can be produced!
Wedding parties receive a discount on their total when they place a gift order with us to be engraved. Wine glasses, pocketknives, and shot glasses are examples of popular engravable wedding party gifts. For the couple, toasting glasses, cake knives and servers, and even the inside of rings can be engraved to make the wedding day more special.
Brass plates can be cut, engraved with personalized information, and affixed to any item with a suitable flat surface. We are one of the only businesses in Washington to provide gold-leaf engraving on Bibles, and gold leaf is also available on many other items for a very reasonable price. Engraving can be performed on items not purchased at our store, but we ask that you understand that we cannot guarantee the item will not chip, flake, peel, or otherwise be harmed during the engraving process.
Pricing for an engraving job is based on the type of engraving to be done (flat, cylindrical, glass, or metal) and how many characters are being engraved. We recommend that you call our store at 636-239-6167 or come visit us at our main location to find out more about engraving and prices.
We offer clock and watch repair. Watches can be dropped off at any time to be repaired, but unless a clock was purchased at our store, we recommend you call us at 636-239-6167 before bringing it in. The time required to complete each repair varies.
A member of our staff is available for in-home grandfather clock repair or lubrication. If you desire, you can come in to our store to learn how to oil your own grandfather clock to avoid paying maintenance fees.
For watches, simple repairs like replacing batteries or missing spring pins, or removing excess links from the band can usually be performed while the customer waits and take only a few minutes when a jeweler is present. A "clean and overhaul" is often required for watches that have slowed down or no longer work, even when the battery is fresh. These usually take about four weeks to complete. More complicated repairs must be left with us and may take up to several weeks to complete, depending on the situation.
At Altemueller Jewelry we offer in-store formal jewelry, watch, and stone appraisals. The items must be either purchased at our store or at least ten years of age. Completion time varies, due to the high volume we experience. Any paperwork on the item(s) you may already posses and could provide may help speed up the process.
The quality of the stones, mounting, type of construction, and labor to set or make the item, are all considered when making an appraisal. When the appraisal is finished, you will receive a leatherette portfolio containing a certificate of appraisal stating your name and address, a description of the item(s) that were appraised, and the appraised value of the item(s). It is signed and dated by the jeweler who performed the appraisal.
Also in the portfolio are color-copied pictures of the item(s) showing the style, stones, and condition of the jewelry at the time.
The cost of our formal appraisals is on a job-by-job basis. The longer a jeweler must work on evaluating the piece(s) and obtaining the information required, the more the appraisal may cost. Once again, any paperwork available may lessen the work involved, and therefore the cost.
For more information on our formal appraisals, call 636-239-6167 to talk to one of our friendly staff, or e-mail info@altemuellerjewelry.com.
